There are tons of exciting events and things to do in downtown Columbus’ Arena District. From sporting events and concerts at Nationwide Arena to community gatherings and family-friendly festivals, each week welcomes a wide variety of experiences.
With so much going on in the Arena District, deciding what to do and where to go can lead to information overload. To help you narrow down your choices, we’re offering the inside scoop on the top upcoming events in downtown Columbus each week.
Veranico Happy Hour Specials
Monday, November 26, Wednesday, November 28 and Friday, November 30
Still stuffed from your thanksgiving feast? Dine light at Veranico this week to get back on track. Monday features a flatbread and beer for just $10, Wednesday is wine night, $6 pours of your favorites and bring on the weekend with power hour on Friday featuring $2 drafts and bottles from 3-5 PM.
Sabrina Benaim
Tuesday, November 27 | A&R Music Bar | 6:30 PM
Sabrina Benaim is poet, author and teaching artist speaking on current issues in society. She is a Toronto poetry slam champion and current coach of the Toronto Poetry Slam team. Her poetry has been showcased by ESPNW and The Government of Canada. Don’t miss the opportunity to listen to her live during her Slumber Party Tour at A&R Music Bar.
Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Minnesota Wild
Thursday, November 29 | Nationwide Arena | 7 PM
The Columbus Blue Jackets are second in their division! On Thursday, watch as they fight to take first place as they face off against the Minnesota Wild. Bring some friends and be a part of the roaring crowd at Nationwide Arena for what’s sure to be an exhilarating Thursday night home game.
Winterbock Keg Tapping Event
Friday, December 30 | Gordon Biersch | 5 – 9 PM
Get in the holiday spirt and wear your ugly sweater to Gordon Biersch’s Keg Tapping Event on Friday starting at 5 PM. This event features a tapping of the Winterbock keg, a full-bodied lager with rich camel and toffee malt and a hint of holiday spirit – brewed specially by Gordon Biersch for the holiday season.
Onesie Bar Crawl – Columbus
Saturday, December 1 | Columbus | 4 PM
As the weather gets cold, it’s important to stay warm while bar hopping! Lucky for you, EpicEventz is bringing their Onesie Bar Crawl to downtown Columbus. This event will include drink specials at multiple bars near the Arena District including Callahan’s Columbus, Novak’s Tavern & Patio, BBR Columbus, Dahlia Nightclub and The Half Pint. Preoccupations & Protomartyr – Presented by CD102.5’s Independent Playground
Saturday, December 1 | The Basement | 7 PM
Independent alternative rock station, CD102.5 is hosting a concert featuring Preoccupations and Protomartyr. Preoccupations is a post-punk band with an electronic rock sound, while Protomatyr is an American rock band with a ‘70’s UK post-punk influence. The show will take place at The Basement this Saturday with Rattle opening the show.
Red Sun Rising – Presented by 99.7 The Blitz
Saturday, December 1 | A&R Music Bar | 7 PM
Columbus rock station, 99.7 The Blitz is presenting Red Sun Rising this Saturday at A&R Music Bar. Red Sun Rising is an American rock band from Akron. They’re influenced by many eras of music that are expertly threaded together to make their own sound. The band has released two studio albums that they’ll perform on this tour.
SantaCon Columbus 2018
Friday, December 7| Arena District | 7 PM
For those counting down to Santa’s arrival, he’s almost here! Next week, spread your holiday cheer and join hundreds of Santas, Elves and Reindeer as they dash around the Arena District for SantaCon Columbus!
