A flight to Peru is $1,000 and 10 plus hours, but you can experience Peruvian flavor at one of Si Señor’s two locations in Grandview and the Arena District.
Boasting a menu of over 15 sandwich options to choose from, and a selection of salads that you can make your own, this local lunch spot is a great place to stop during the week or bring your out-of-town friends for a fun new flavor. Another bonus — everything on the menu is around $10 and under, so you won’t break the bank. Once you take one bite, you won’t believe the deal you’re getting on so much flavor.
We ordered the Pork & Pork Sandwich and the Chicharron Peruano, a fan favorite. The Pork & Pork is a pork loin sandwich topped with chorizo, provolone, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and cilantro mayo. The chorizo adds a nice kick to the rest of the flavors and everything pairs beautifully. The Chicharron is highly rated among customers and has chunks of Peruvian-style fried pork, pickled onions, and sweet potato mayo. One diner even left a review saying the Chicharron was the best sandwich he had ever had in his life, and he had to call the restaurant when he was finished eating to thank them. If that’s not enough to get you to Si Señor, I’m not sure what is!
Honorable mentions that I haven’t tried but are on my list for my next visit include the Si Señor Grilled Cheese complete with tomato jam, applewood bacon, and jalapeños, as well as the Chipotle Chicken sandwich with cheese, tomato jam, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. If you’re not a meat-eater or want to explore more of the menu, they also have a handful of fish and vegetarian sandwiches. Their salads are also a great option if you’re not in the market for a sandwich. The Mixed Green Salad caught my eye and will definitely be on a future order. The toppings include sunflower seeds, mandarin oranges, gorgonzola cheese, and white balsamic vinaigrette — a perfect end-of-summer salad choice, and you can add your pick of meat if you’d like!
The sandwiches are sizable, but if you want to add on to your meal, you have the option to make it a combo with a choice between homemade chips or Cilantro Cream Pasta Salad, or your choice between the soup of the day and a salad. I, fortunately, have genetics where cilantro does not taste like soap, and I already know I’m ordering the Cilantro Pasta Salad the next time I stop in. You can also round out your meal with a sweet treat and choose between a Tres Leches Cake or flan.
This small business is a Columbus staple, and you truly can’t go wrong with whatever you end up ordering. Between the ciabatta rolls the sandwiches are served on, the variety of funky sauces offered, and fresh additions to your meal, you’re set to walk out of Si Señor spending about $985 less than if you flew to Peru yourself.
Si Señor is located in Grandview at 1456 W. Fifth Ave. and the Arena District at 155 W. Nationwide Blvd., Ste. 175A.
