Countdown: The best neighborhoods for millennials in Columbus

Take this with a grain of salt – an out-of-state website crunches a lot of data to find the best places for millennials to live in Columbus, and 62 of the city’s 65 neighborhoods get graded an A or better.

You probably wouldn’t guess the top 15 – “River District” anyone? – but hey, Niche gave them all an A+ for nightlife.

That was just one of the many factors listed in Niche’s description of each area, which on its face can seem weird. Neighborhoods graded a C or D for housing, for example, ranked high on the millennials list.

But the list really comes from a complicated accounting of factors including percentage of residents between 25 and 34, those with at least a bachelor’s degree, cost of living and access to coffee shops.

The attached gallery shows each neighborhood’s rank for millennials, but then shows its overall description and breaks down demographic information. So German Village, for example, is an A- neighborhood overall, but it ranks 15th for millennials. Olde Towne East is a B+ neighborhood, but ranks 11th for millennials.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the median age for Columbus residents is 32.1, firmly in the millennial generation, which the bureau defines as those born from 1982 to 2000. (Though others have defined that slightly differently.)

We’re proud to share that the Arena District ranks as the #1 neighborhood for millennials in Columbus out of the city’s 65 neighborhoods that received a grade of an A or better. Click below to see who made the top 15.
